Customer Review: This is a “stripped down” very basic pair of speakers for your laptop, Chromebook or PC. For only $10.97 I did not expect much, but this is actually pretty good quality considering it cost a mere $10.97. These are ONLY for listening when you are sitting within 5-6 feet of your laptop, Chromebook or PC and NOT for listening on the opposite side of the room 20-30 feet away. No biggie – cos what do you expect for merely $10.97?It has a very simple volume control knob. A 3rd grade kid could figure out how to install these speakers. I didn’t even need to read the instruction book! I just opened the box, pulled out the packaging and popped in the USB plug, the round, long prong and put it into the internal socket on my Chromebook. Then I quickly inserted the 3rd peripheral into my Chromebook plug, turned on the volume to full blast and BINGO! I had really clear volume instantly.Later on I read the warranty info and owners manual. Not much really to study since this is definitely “Bare Bones” “strippe down” very basic PC, laptop, Chromebook speakers. This is a sold, very low priced pair of speakers good for increasing the volume on your computer to listen to You Tube videos, streaming video. Let’s face it – the speakers that come pre-installed on most Chromebooks, PC’s and laptops are pretty weak. If you want louder quality audio – this is a pretty nifty “stripped down basic” pair of speakers for a rock bottom price.I was listening to a PBS streaming video documentary on Maria Callas – the late, great, brilliant opera diva from the 1950’s – 1960’s and the sound quality of Maria Callas operatic solos was crystal clear. I could also clearly hear the symphony orchestra in the background accompanying Maria Callas in her world class tour de force performance at La Scala in Italy and the Met Opera way back in the late 1950’s – early 1960’s.If you are on a really tight budget and want to oomph up the audio volume on your laptop, PC or Chromebook you get a LOT of “bang for your buck”. Don’t expect any fancy “Bells and Whistles”. There is a basic, simple audio volume control knob on one of the speakers – but it does the job!I highly recommend it!IT was quite well packaged with a LOT of durable protective cardboard packaging inside specifically designed to cushion both speakers. I just wish Amazon would GET THERE ACT TOGETHER AND FOR GOODNESS SAKE STOP INCLUDING THE TOTALLY UNECCESSARY PLASTIC BAG that cannot be recycled. Amazon brags TOO MUCH about being so-called “Green” and environmentally friendly but that is NOT TRUE! The box the speakers came in was MORE than sufficient for the packaging. Amazon shipped this direct from their warehouse and insisted on including a COMPLETELY UNCESSESSARY PLASTIC BAG that cannot be recycled and will wind up in the ocean’s Plastic Gyre or toxic dump landfill.AMAZON GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER and eliminate completely uncessary plastic bag packaging! Also for goodness sake ELIMINATE that darn bubble wrap plastic cushioning. These speakers came in a very sturdy box from the factory that already included a very durable specially molded cardboard cushioning object that was quite sturdy THE PLASTIC BAG THAT CANNOT BE RECYCLED WAS 100% UNCESSESSARY.I decided awhile ago to ORDER LESS FROM AMAZON because they allege they are “Green” but their packaging is excessive – too much plastic and bad for the environment!

Customer Review: These are honestly the best speakers I’ve had in a long time without spending a lot of money. Before buying these, I tried a couple of other speakers from the same platform, but I had to return them because the sound was noisy and not clear at all.Since I’ve always had good experiences with Amazon products, I decided to try these Amazon Basics speakers, and I’m really glad I did. They sound very good. Of course, they don’t have a subwoofer, but the sound is still very clear. Even when you increase the volume, the audio remains clean and strong. Since they are desktop speakers, they sit close to you, which makes them sound even better.The volume knob feels premium and very solid when you turn it. Overall, the speakers feel very well made. I especially like that the front is metallic instead of fabric. I’m not a fan of fabric on speakers because it tends to collect dust and get damaged over time.I’ve even accidentally knocked them off my desk a couple of times, and despite some good bumps, they still work perfectly. Nothing has broken, bent, or stopped working.I really like them and I think I’ll keep them for a long time. In fact, I’ve already had them for quite a while and they’re still going strong.

Customer Review: The media could not be loaded. When my Creative Pebble 2.0 computer speakers stopped working, I knew I needed a new set of speakers. In years past, I had the Rokit 5 G2 monitors and matching subwoofer for my main video editing computer. But right now I don’t have that kind of money to spend, and I’m not currently doing enough paid editing work to justify that kind of investment. I needed speakers that would mostly be used for listening to music, watching video content, and for editing videos occasionally.Enter the PreSonus Eris 3.5, which at just under $100 was at the top end of what I could spend. I almost went with the Ortizan C7, but decided on these instead both for the smooth volume knob adjustment and the PreSonus brand name. They were easy to set up with my MacMini, they look great on my white desk, and there’s always the option to get the Eris subwoofer if I want to. I did not need Bluetooth connectivity, just wired RCA or 3.5mm, with the option to do 1/4″ later on.Be aware these are not true active monitors, they’re basically something between that and computer speakers. The left side has the power cable, the inputs, and the bass/treble adjustments. The right speaker is a passive “satellite” that connects with regular speaker wire. At 25w each, I can’t see the point of upgrading the wire to a larger gauge. The tweeters do have a grille covering them which is nice, and the carbon fiber woofers have a smooth concave dustcap. I’m not worried about denting the woofer or tweeter.Now let’s talk about sound. These definitely get loud enough for a bedroom or small office. I rarely turn mine up past 50% and at that level it’s louder than I normally listen to things. The response is maybe a little heavy on bass/mid-bass, so I turned down the bass knob on the speaker to about 30% and use an EQ program on my computer to slightly boost the mids/highs and roll off the bass. With that, the speakers sound balanced to my ears.If you’re using these for consuming entertainment, they certainly fit the bill. If you’re mixing your own music/videos as an amateur or low-budget prosumer, then these will probably work if you set the EQ right for your room. I would still recommend checking your mix on a good pair of headphones and also a cheap mono speaker.They look good, they sound good, and have just enough upgrade options to work at the prosumer level. I did not pay extra for the Bluetooth feature as I figured the subwoofer comes with that functionality if I really want it later on.EDIT: I bought a right angled power cable and angled RCA adapters so that I could fit the Left speaker closer to the wall than the factory cables would allow.

I just resurrected a PC that I built 12 years ago and, after giving my son my Corsair SP2500 2.1 system for a gaming rig he built, I decided that I need a basic 2-ch replacement.Did some research and kept coming back to these and M-Audio BX4. I also set a budget of $100 as I have a dedicated 2-ch audio system for serious listening. I figured for playing music while I surf or rip CDs and Blu-ray, I didn’t set the bar that high. And, I’m not a DJ or sound mixer/creator so I figured these were just right.What I DIDN’T figure was how good these sound. For now, I’m just using my laptops audio out jack to RCA in on the 3.5s. Volume is 12 o’clock and my laptop vol is 33.I was figuring bass would be minimal, at best, but I’m pleasantly surprised. I don’t want these very loud since they will be for near-field use only. But, they will go way louder than I need. And, that’s using my laptops Creative audio card. My Asus XONAR D1 on my desktop is a better card for audio quality so it should sound even better.I am streaming Qobuz app on Win 10 and it outperforms my expectations. Bass is deeper than I thought it would be considering the small driver and mids and highs are good considering the price tag. I definitely thought the bass would be thin but that is not what I’ve found. Binge listening to 15 hours of Porcupine Tree (which is very well-recorded) and these 3.5s…all I keep thinking of is “Man, these were a GREAT buy.”I listen to rock, metal, industrial and some ambient music… No rap, R&B, etc, so deep bass isn’t a concern, anyway. I have a Rythmik sub on my main audio system so I got all the bass that I can handle, anyway.The only tweaks that I made are replacing the included speaker wire with some 16ga that I have plenty of. And, I bought a more substantial 3.5mm to RCA cable than the generic one that came with it.If these last a good 4-5 years, that will be a bonus but, so far, these are a steal, IMO.

Customer Review: The Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 sound overall far better than Logitech ANYTHING, Harman Kardon computer speakers (new or old), and way above and beyond iPod earbuds (for reference).This is definitely one of the best sounding sets of computer speakers I have listened to. I have tried using high end audio systems as outputs for my desktop, but the downsides of that is the input is so sensitive it picks up electrical interference.Nice features:-These Klipsch speakers handle the interference very well, I was only able to get a low pitch hum/hiss when it was above 75% volume ( which is just about enough to blow your eardrums out when playing music).-Bass knob REALLY controls bass. You can go from a complete 0% (which is a rarity) to seemingly infinite bass. I found that around 20% is a good leveled bass for my music, but if you want to rave throughout your house you can still turn it up.-The fidelity is through the roof for this price range (these days). This is far above the cheapskate speakers market, Klipsch really put some effort into a good stereo at an affordable price. If there was anything to complain about, it’d be that the subwoofer is easy to set too prominent and it is a detriment to the wonderful speakers in this unit.Thinks to consider before purchasing:-These speakers are almost TOO sensitive. I use mine with the volume knob around 30%, but I had to turn Windows volume down to 20% in order to do it! (this is a real good thing though, since it means the speakers are pretty efficient)-One initial complaint I had was the lack of a power switch, but in reality it is to make the unit sound better by keeping the amplifier from getting cold. If you really need to turn it off that bad, put it on it’s own power strip.-The speakers sound MUCH better if they have 1-2 feet of space behind them.-Also, when placed on your desk, they seem to sound better (read: more even sound) when pointed around your body, rather than directly at you. However, this caused the sound to become too stereophonic (like headphones), so I used a Stereophonic-to-binaural DSP for my music to blend it a bit before it comes out of the speakers. No more listening fatigue! Obviously, this problem is nonexistent if you move your speakers further away, because you can let the sound muddle together more naturally.Things I am NOT a fan of:-The included grips DO NOT stick very well onto the metal stands. In fact, I am having trouble with the replacement set as well. There is a strong tendency for the grips to slowly slide off over a period of a few weeks. I wish the coating on the stand was not as textured on the bottom as it is on the top.-The dust covers muddy the sound a bit too much. I leave them off almost all the time now, because they kill too much of the high frequencies. Thankfully, they are easily removed and replaced (toolless).-The green LED is a bit on the bright side, it won’t light up your wall but it hurts to look at when its dark. I point the speaker away from me when I go to sleep. I would have appreciated an LED that is flush against the surface so it is not as bright from any direction.-These speakers made me realize how much of my music is not high quality. On my old Logitech speakers, you couldn’t tell the difference, but with these listening to low quality music will tire your ears out quickly, while listening to great music will give you an eargasm (unless you’ve heard better, but you’re probably not buying these if you’re a true audiophile, or are you?)

Customer Review: After many years of beautiful sound, my Bose Companion 5 system gave up the ghost. It was a very sad moment. I loved those speakers. The sound was exquisite. Unfortunately, the Companion 5 system is no longer available new, only used. So, I set out on a lengthy search to find something I felt I would appreciate as much as the Bose system.I read and watched tons of reviews for various speaker systems. I stuck to established brands that I’ve known for years. I’ve never had Klipsch speakers before, but I’ve heard various sets of them since the 1980s and have always been impressed by them.I don’t want to write a long-winded review, so I’ll just say that while I don’t feel like they present the same expansive soundstage that my Bose Companion 5 system did, they are EXCELLENT. And they cost considerably less than the Bose Companion 5 did. They produce a very pleasant and dynamic sound, whether I’m gaming, watching a movie, or just listening to music. For music, they’re well balanced, in my opinion. They sound good with Classical, Jazz, Rock, whatever. That’s not always easy to find in a speaker system. I’ve been enjoying them for nearly a year.As others have noted, they are very loud. When I first set them up, there was terrible distortion. Turns out, the output from my computer was just too high. I turned down the Windows volume level to 20% and that completely resolved that issue. I just control the volume from the knob built into the right speaker. Speaking of controls on the right speaker, I REALLY appreciate the subwoofer volume control being on the right speaker instead of on the subwoofer itself (as it was on my Bose system). It’s nice to be able to adjust the bass without having to crawl under my desk.To be honest, if I could have bought a new set of Bose Companion 5 speakers, I would have. And I never would have discovered these Klipsch speakers. Do I think they’re as good as my Bose? No. But I do think they’re excellent speakers at a very good price. I’m pleased and would make the same purchase again.I should note that the very good price to which I’m referring was $117.50 almost a year ago.

Customer Review: I am actually quite impressed with the Amazon Basics Bluetooth and USB Computer Speakers. The speakers are actually quite heavy (more so than they appear at first glance). I am also pleased with the sound quality. Certainly, I would not expect speakers of this size and price point to reproduce Concert Hall quality sound and would not plan to use them for watching movies, concerts or other complex sound intensive events.Yes, bass is not a forte for these speakers, but for general PC sound and even some basic music, these are more than adequate. They are capable of playing at near 100% volume without major distortion. For my needs, I typically have the volume set between 50-75%. For this level of sound, these speakers do not disappoint.Available USB ports on my PC are limited, so I opted to plug the USB into an adapter into a wall outlet. I fully expected to need to run an AUX cable in order get the sound from my PC. However, these connected immediately to my PC’s Bluetooth and starting playing. So, no cable needed!There are some comments regarding the wired connection between the speakers and the control pod. I personally don’t have a problem with that. I placed the speakers on either side of my monitor (see photo) and laid the control pod underneath the monitor. Customer Review: What’s not to love about these speakers? First of all, let’s talk about price. For around 16.00 how can you beat them? I didn’t think I would be getting much for that price, but I was wrong. The low-profile look, big sound, and user-friendly controls boasted by these speakers will convince you that you got a bargain deal. My old speakers were clunky, ugly, and took up too much space. I had a cord between the speakers, cord to the computer, and a power cord. It looked like a sloppy mess. With these. That problem is solved with these speakers. My favorite features are the push button volume control and the soothing blue accent light.The cord length is generous enough to be flexible while the portability is certainly there if needed since it draws power from the usb. They look great, they sound great, and they are priced right. Buy them!
