4 Best Audiophile Computer Speakers: Pure Sound Quality

When my expensive Logitech 400-watt 5.1 system decided to die an untimely death, I was faced with replacing the entire speaker system. The room I use my computer in is not large, so the Logitech system was easily overkill. So, I decided that I would not look for a system of this magnitude. I searched and researched various options, one of them being the Bluedee 2.1 system with 80 watts of power. The reviews were all very positive, so I decided to give them a try. All aspects of this system were great: from the unboxing to the setup (which took about 10 minutes). All of the connections were clearly labeled, which made the setup so quickly. There are three ways to connect them to a PC or laptop. I chose the one which theoretically will not give me the best sound (connect via Bluetooth). But the sound over Bluetooth is really great and allows me to use fewer wires. There is enough quality sound to have my wife start yelling at me to decrease the volume (I do play games on my desktop PC), so there is than enough power. I have not noticed any distortion. The sound is really good and the subwoofer does kick out very decent bass. I am very happy with this system and am very glad that I purchased it. It is enough sound for my room. It is definitely worth the price paid.

I really like these speakers. The sound is clear, and the bass is very good thanks to the subwoofer. The LED lights look really nice and make them look modern. They are easy to connect with Bluetooth and also have different connection options. For the price, the quality is very good. I recommend them for a computer, music, or watching movies.

I researched this type of product well before making my purchase, lots of good other reviewers for products from the same company, both more and less expensive. This is a happy medium product for me, and I am very happy with the product and its capabilities. I am a location audio recording person and audiophile, and while this product at this price point is clearly not a world beater, that is not the object of this type of product. What I can say is that this product sounds decent with live streamed audio (SiriusXM usually), and is not annoying to someone used to listening to accurate acoustic audio / recordings. The switching amp actually sounds pretty decent, and this rig is well worth the price. It is easy to move from room to room when needed, and comes with nice sleeves for the speakers so that when taking in ‘on the road’ the rig is reasonably well protected…..a nice touch I am not sure others have mentioned. The bluetooth range is decent, and the only thing I would say is that it does not automatically reconnect after shutting it down one evening and starting it up the next morning with my Tab 7+. I have decent sound when using the bluetooth, and therefore the built in DAC, that I have not tried to compare using the line in function. If I wanted premium sound I would use a different rig, but this is great for work out music, and or background music when doing something else. If a bluetooth rig would have been my only audio playback rig I would have opted for the larger brother of this unit, for the clarity of the bass if nothing else. Yet this unit does well by itself for non-critical listening, and I would gladly purchase it again. Happy customer, pleasantly surprised.

I’m in a relatively smaller room (approx 12’ x 16’) and have a corner setup for a mix of both work and play. I wanted to declutter some wires from my setup while pursuing a solid quality sound/bass on the desktop end of things. Hours of research led me to audio engine and more specifically their hd4’s. At first I was pretty hesitant about paying a couple of hundreds dollars on quality desktop speakers but after receiving these speakers I quickly began to understand the price tag. The sound quality on these guys are amazing from just about any angle in my room. They are both minimal in design and setup, which I am a big fan of and the wooden finish quickly grew on me. I only have one usb wire running from one of the speakers to my computer, the power cable, and the connection from active to the passive speaker — which is a great improvement. On top of that, the low latency Bluetooth works like a charm; ideal for when I am not actively on my computer (or on my work laptop) an am looking to play off a device such as my phone. The only minor downside (and this is more out of pickiness) is the omission of desktop speaker stands which can help angle your speakers slightly upwards for enchanted listening pleasure. It’s not a deal breaker since you can get them from audio engine on the side ($34 bucks last time I checked) but I feel that at least some alternative to these stands should’ve been included given the initial price. Overall, very happy with this purchase and look forward to these lastime me quite a while.

The Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 sound overall far better than Logitech ANYTHING, Harman Kardon computer speakers (new or old), and way above and beyond iPod earbuds (for reference). This is definitely one of the best sounding sets of computer speakers I have listened to. I have tried using high end audio systems as outputs for my desktop, but the downsides of that is the input is so sensitive it picks up electrical interference. Nice features:-These Klipsch speakers handle the interference very well, I was only able to get a low pitch hum/hiss when it was above 75% volume ( which is just about enough to blow your eardrums out when playing music).-Bass knob REALLY controls bass. You can go from a complete 0% (which is a rarity) to seemingly infinite bass. I found that around 20% is a good leveled bass for my music, but if you want to rave throughout your house you can still turn it up.-The fidelity is through the roof for this price range (these days). This is far above the cheapskate speakers market, Klipsch really put some effort into a good stereo at an affordable price. If there was anything to complain about, it’d be that the subwoofer is easy to set too prominent and it is a detriment to the wonderful speakers in this unit. Thinks to consider before purchasing:-These speakers are almost TOO sensitive. I use mine with the volume knob around 30%, but I had to turn Windows volume down to 20% in order to do it! (this is a real good thing though, since it means the speakers are pretty efficient)-One initial complaint I had was the lack of a power switch, but in reality it is to make the unit sound better by keeping the amplifier from getting cold. If you really need to turn it off that bad, put it on it’s own power strip.-The speakers sound MUCH better if they have 1-2 feet of space behind them.-Also, when placed on your desk, they seem to sound better (read: more even sound) when pointed around your body, rather than directly at you. However, this caused the sound to become too stereophonic (like headphones), so I used a Stereophonic-to-binaural DSP for my music to blend it a bit before it comes out of the speakers. No more listening fatigue! Obviously, this problem is nonexistent if you move your speakers further away, because you can let the sound muddle together more naturally. Things I am NOT a fan of:-The included grips DO NOT stick very well onto the metal stands. In fact, I am having trouble with the replacement set as well. There is a strong tendency for the grips to slowly slide off over a period of a few weeks. I wish the coating on the stand was not as textured on the bottom as it is on the top.-The dust covers muddy the sound a bit too much. I leave them off almost all the time now, because they kill too much of the high frequencies. Thankfully, they are easily removed and replaced (toolless).-The green LED is a bit on the bright side, it won’t light up your wall but it hurts to look at when its dark. I point the speaker away from me when I go to sleep. I would have appreciated an LED that is flush against the surface so it is not as bright from any direction.-These speakers made me realize how much of my music is not high quality. On my old Logitech speakers, you couldn’t tell the difference, but with these listening to low quality music will tire your ears out quickly, while listening to great music will give you an eargasm (unless you’ve heard better, but you’re probably not buying these if you’re a true audiophile, or are you?).

After many years of beautiful sound, my Bose Companion 5 system gave up the ghost. It was a very sad moment. I loved those speakers. The sound was exquisite. Unfortunately, the Companion 5 system is no longer available new, only used. So, I set out on a lengthy search to find something I felt I would appreciate as much as the Bose system. I read and watched tons of reviews for various speaker systems. I stuck to established brands that I’ve known for years. I’ve never had Klipsch speakers before, but I’ve heard various sets of them since the 1980s and have always been impressed by them. I don’t want to write a long-winded review, so I’ll just say that while I don’t feel like they present the same expansive soundstage that my Bose Companion 5 system did, they are EXCELLENT. And they cost considerably less than the Bose Companion 5 did. They produce a very pleasant and dynamic sound, whether I’m gaming, watching a movie, or just listening to music. For music, they’re well balanced, in my opinion. They sound good with Classical, Jazz, Rock, whatever. That’s not always easy to find in a speaker system. I’ve been enjoying them for nearly a year. As others have noted, they are very loud. When I first set them up, there was terrible distortion. Turns out, the output from my computer was just too high. I turned down the Windows volume level to 20% and that completely resolved that issue. I just control the volume from the knob built into the right speaker. Speaking of controls on the right speaker, I REALLY appreciate the subwoofer volume control being on the right speaker instead of on the subwoofer itself (as it was on my Bose system). It’s nice to be able to adjust the bass without having to crawl under my desk. To be honest, if I could have bought a new set of Bose Companion 5 speakers, I would have. And I never would have discovered these Klipsch speakers. Do I think they’re as good as my Bose? No. But I do think they’re excellent speakers at a very good price. I’m pleased and would make the same purchase again. I should note that the very good price to which I’m referring was $117.50 almost a year ago.

These speakers are a fantastic addition to my home office. I was tired of the tinny sound from my monitor speakers, and these Bluedee speakers are a huge improvement. Setup was as simple as plugging in the USB cable, and the sound is so much clearer and fuller. I particularly enjoy the RGB lighting, it adds a nice ambiance to my workspace. They are compact enough that they don’t take up much room on my desk, which is a big plus.

I bought these speakers for my son’s gaming setup, and he loves them. He said the sound is great for games and music, and the RGB lights are a cool bonus. The USB connection is super convenient, no messy audio cables needed. For the price, I don’t think you can get much better. They’re definitely a step up from basic computer speakers.
