Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “First off, let me get this out of the way – This probably isn’t the exact same model as the reviews you might have read about the other X27U monitors. Check the exact model number so there are no surprises. This model is substantially cheaper than those for a reason: the panel on it isn’t quite as nice as those. With that said, it’s still a phenomenal display. I have it next to a very good 27″ IPS display, and it just eats its lunch. You can’t even compare the two, it’s not a fair fight. You probably hear a lot about how good the blacks are, but something nobody talks about is how that makes colors look. When you have a crimson red on your IPS display, the nature of it introduces a little bit of grey. It looks good, but then you put that same color on this QD-OLED and its amazing the difference. Its an entirely different color that is richer, bolder, and genuine. Everything on the IPS seems so washed out while everything on this QD-OLED just pops off of your screen. The build quality is what you would expect from a budget OLED. Its plastic, the I/O has just enough ports, and you just have to look at it long enough to mount it. I can’t comment on the stand because this went from the box to a monitor arm. The display is glossy but its not a mirrror by any means.Performance is great. I used a displayport cabled certififed for high bandwidth and I had no uses when I set the refresh rate to 240hz. When I switched the input to HDMI and turned on my PS5, the PS5 showed that everything that you’d expect works. VRR, HDR, it just works out of the box.The display is a little dim, but I wouldn’t call it unusable by any means. I have my brightness pushed to 100 because I like a bright display and it gets bright enough where I am not complaining. Do I wish it was 50 nits brighter like the other models in this lineup? Yes, but even right next to the IPS display that is 300 nits, I don’t really think its that massive of a difference. I love a bright display and I know OLED just can’t do that. I could have bought another display that is 300 nits, but then I’d wish it was 350. If I got one that was 400 nits, I’d wish it was 450. This display looks good and that’s what’s important to me.Overall, I am giving this a perfect score. It has its flaws, but nothing that wasn’t there in the listing. It does exactly what it was advertised to do, and also blew out my expectations for in terms of colors, so 5/5.”

Customer Review: “This is my first Oled monitor it looks great but I feel like their is better out there. If this will be your first purchase of a Oled monitor I would recommend it for the price. But if you have the money to splurge a bit, put in a little more research and invest in 4k Oled. Only if you can run it consistently. In my opinion would be best for the most modern set up”

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “Been using this for two days now and everything is great. I have a dual Xeon workstation and gaming PC connected via KVM. After I got everything hooked up I maxed out the refresh rate at 240 Hz. Right off the bat I got really bad flickering, like multiple flickers per second and only happened at 240Hz. Fortunately, the problem was with my DP cable. Even though it was a Dp 1.4 it just couldn’t support that high of a signal. Bought a new one. switched it out, and everything is great. Now, if you were like me I hesitated because my monitor is shared for work and play. I didn’t know how bad the text would be considering how that is not a strong suit. The text isn’t as sharp as my previous monitor but not a big deal at all. As a matter of fact, I am already used to it and don’t think about it anymore. The blacks on this thing is absolutely amazing. The colors are so vibrant and rich and gaming looks so much better, even compared to a non OLED 4k monitor. The one thing that I was not too thrilled about is the auto dimming feature. If I switched from my desktop to MS word, you would see some minor dimming. I found out this is part of the built-in screen saving options. Not sure which ones so I turned them all off. I am not overly worried about burn-in. If it happens then I will use my 3-year warranty. By the way, make sure you register the monitor on Asus’s site. Now, add this to your cart and check out.UPDATE: I just upgraded to the PG27UCDM (review above was for the XG27AQDMG). For some reason Amazon won’t let me write an independent review, even though it is a different model so I am including it in this review. Without exaggeration, this may be the best monitor ever. It just took a few minutes to change the settings based on what I like. The colors are so vibrant and blacks are so deep. I seriously cannot think of anything on which to improve the quality on this monitor, except for one. There is noticeable flicking if I have VRR enabled. Certainly not a deal breaker but you can see it flicker if you pay close enough attention. Other than that, it’s perfect and worth the $$$$.”

Customer Review: “Love it! Have had it for maybe 3 weeks now no issues. Picture quality is great u definitely need the right HDMI cord that can support the type of quality u are trying to stream. Xbox supports 4K and comes with 2.1HDMI so I am able to use 4k at 60hz for watching things on this monitor and it will activate the HDR settings at that point. The only “con” I would say which isn’t really a con just an annoying thing is the pixel cleaning. I make sure to do it whenever I have the pop up bc I don’t want burn it but it takes like 6 minutes and sometimes I just wanna get right on and play but I have to wait. But it’s worth it for the longevity of the monitor. U do need speakers it has no speakers. I did see some flickering at one point I never knew what that was before but I only saw it the one time and after fixing my settings to turnoff VRR it stopped so that’s good. Picture quality u will have to mess with the setting a lot to see what u like best but there are 2 settings save slots so u can save ur settings and load them.I have1 setting for when im gaming i jus hit to load that pre saved setup and the when I watching something i switch to my other saved settings so i dont have to go through and change everything all the time. Also for playing games, I play rivals mostly, that cross hair feature is lowkey a cheat bc I can better see my cross hair than the actual game crosshair and it has a dynamic function so it changes colors depending on the colors on the screen so it’s never hard to see it always does a contrasting color to make it easier to see. It has come in handy a lot. In the photo that Red Crosshair on the screen that’s the one I’m talking about that it a feature of the monitor that’s not from the game.Definitely is worth the money. I used amazons payment plan bc it is kinda expensive but I think it’s worth it and I like the rainbow color lighting effects the symbol does on the back it’s cuteeee.”

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “Quality is great for gaming. The setup was easy mounting it together is simple. it is worth the price I love this machine.”

Customer Review: “Used this monitor for a few months before writing this. I mainly used it for gaming. I play Marvel Rivals, Minecraft and some other Simulation/Adventure games. And my games play extremely smooth. This monitor is absolutely beautiful. The color settings are awesome. I’m someone who likes to blow my saturation up to 80-90. This does it beautifully.Minus my obsession with saturation, there are plenty of other settings to mess around with on the monitor too. I believe it has HDR, but when my brother applied it, we quickly decided to turn it off because it didn’t look right? It made my monitor look very dark imo.I haven’t been using this PC with any headset obviously because I’m a lunatic of some sort. However, the sound is nothing stellar. It’s not bad, but it’s not great and with certain audios/media + an elevated volume chrome extension, it can feed back some unpleasant sounding stuff, though it is VERY RARE. I wouldn’t go over 200-300% volume level IF using an extension. Personally, I have a tiny bit of trouble hearing due to wearing headphones at max volume frequently, so I find the volume to be a tad bit low for ME. Anyway, most use headphones with their PC.It’s not heavy by any means and moves pretty easily if you need it to. Otherwise the base of monitor is very sturdy and made of a nice metal. It’s not too small or too large either, it fits perfectly on my desk. If you want a monitor for gaming, this is reliable and will do the J-O-B. :)”

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “The media could not be loaded. It’s an OLED so its gonna be good. I didn’t have any text fringing or eye strain even after 4 hours straight use. Picture quality is great. Brightness is good enough for me.Im impressed by the colors on it. It doesn’t get any better in this price. Now the cons are that the upper side of the panel is very thin so if I want to tilt it up or down with my monitor arm I’d feel more confident doing it holding the bottom part. The HDMI doesn’t support more than 165hz on this monitor so I had to use display port for that sweet 240hz refresh rate. You could use an HDMI to DP cable if you don’t have any display port option in your pc or laptop. The bezels are a bit thicker than I expected, You’ll notice it if you work or play in bright room. For me it’s no problem. My roommate has an Samsung g5 OLED and it feels smaller than that for some reason even though it’s same size. (Image quality is better than Samsung in this). It’s a glossy display, part of the reason why content looks better than Samsung g5. But in a bright room or average light room if you are watching something dark-ish you will see all the reflection on it. While gaming it’s not noticeable.Overall a little bit adjustment but very good for the price.”

Customer Review: “For the price this is an excellent monitor. At first glance the monitor may look a little dim, but if you mess around with the settings you’ll see the burn in protection settings are turned on by default. Specifically “Uniform Brightness” which dims the entire monitor. Pretty sweet for web browsing and coding and stuff, where some elements might be in the same spot for a while. Turning it off however, makes the screen look fantastic. Super deep darkness with vibrant colors, especially if you take the time to find the right hdr settings. All in all for 360 dollars this is a stellar buy.”

Complete Buying Guide for Best Budget 1440P OLED Gaming Monitor

Essential Factors We Consider

When hunting for the best budget 1440p OLED gaming monitor, we focused on a few key things. Obviously, the QHD resolution (1440p) is a must for that sweet spot between visual detail and performance demands. Then there’s the OLED panel, which guarantees those perfect blacks and incredible contrast. We also prioritized high refresh rates (240Hz is ideal) and low response times (1ms or less, ideally 0.03ms for OLED) to ensure buttery-smooth gameplay. Connectivity options like HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort are important too, especially for console compatibility. Finally, we kept a close eye on the price to ensure these are genuinely budget-friendly.

Budget Planning

The term “budget” can be a bit tricky when it comes to OLED technology. While these monitors are more affordable than their premium counterparts, they still represent an investment. We’ve aimed to find options that offer the most bang for your buck, generally falling into the mid-range price category for gaming monitors. Expect to spend a bit more than you would for a standard IPS or VA panel, but the visual upgrade with OLED is, in our opinion, well worth it. Keep an eye out for sales and promotions, as these can make an already good deal even better.

Final Thoughts

Finding a budget 1440p OLED gaming monitor is more achievable than ever. These displays offer a transformative gaming experience, bringing your games to life with unparalleled contrast and vibrant colors. Whether you’re a competitive esports player needing every millisecond advantage or an enthusiast looking for the most immersive visuals, there’s an option out there for you. We’ve done the legwork to bring you some of the best value propositions on the market.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Are OLED gaming monitors worth it for budget setups?

A: Yes, especially if you prioritize visual fidelity. While they may cost more upfront than traditional LCD monitors, the superior contrast, perfect blacks, and vibrant colors OLED offers can significantly enhance your gaming experience. For a budget 1440p OLED gaming monitor, you’re getting a lot of visual wow-factor for the money.

Q: What is the difference between OLED and QD-OLED?

A: QD-OLED builds upon standard OLED technology by incorporating Quantum Dots. This generally leads to brighter colors, higher peak brightness, and improved color volume, resulting in an even more stunning and vibrant visual experience compared to traditional WOLED panels.

Q: Can I use a 1440p OLED gaming monitor with my console?

A: Absolutely! Many of these monitors come equipped with HDMI 2.1 ports, which are essential for getting the most out of current-gen consoles like the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. This allows for higher refresh rates at 1440p resolution.

Q: What about burn-in on OLED monitors?

A: While burn-in was a significant concern in the past, modern OLED monitors have advanced mitigation techniques like pixel shifting, logo dimming, and screen savers. For typical gaming usage, where on-screen content changes frequently, the risk is quite low. Most manufacturers also offer warranties that cover burn-in.

Q: Is 240Hz necessary for a budget 1440p OLED gaming monitor?

A: For competitive gaming, 240Hz offers a noticeable advantage in smoothness and responsiveness. For casual or immersive gaming, 144Hz or 165Hz might be sufficient, but if your budget allows for 240Hz, it’s definitely a desirable feature for an enhanced gaming experience on a 1440p OLED gaming monitor.

So there you have it! Finding a budget 1440p OLED gaming monitor means getting incredible visuals without the premium price tag. We’ve highlighted some fantastic options that balance performance, features, and cost. Whether you’re looking for the absolute best value or a slight step up in visual quality, there’s a monitor on this list for you.
