Customer Reviews
Customer Review: This monitor is a great value for the price. I mainly use it for work (SAP-heavy tasks) and general web browsing with my Mac mini, and it performs well. It comes with both a USB-C and HDMI cable, which is super convenient for switching between my Mac and ThinkPad. The remote aids in the switching between PC and smart monitor use (picture quality is ok but I didnt expect a lot of a monitor since it isn’t a tv) Assembly was easy, and the display quality is nice—though I did tweak the contrast and color settings to my liking. The built-in sound is decent, and while I’m not picky about audio, it’s more than fine for everyday use. My only gripe is with the smart TV feature—when using apps like Peacock, the resolution doesn’t fill the screen, leaving black bars on the sides (included a photo). Not a dealbreaker, but worth noting.Overall, I’m glad I kept it. It’s proven that you don’t have to drop $1,300 on an iMac—pairing a Mac Mini with this monitor cost me under $1,000 and works just as well. If LG tossed in a second USB-C cable and fixed the resolution issue, they’d have a customer for life.
Customer Review: I bought this monitor to get more viewing space and the curved screen. But, it took me sometime to figure out how to get it to work properly because I am using a docking station that only support USB-C upstream at 5Gbps/100W and 2K HDMI, 4K HDMI.This monitor has 5M pixel (3440×1440) that is equivalent to 2.5K. If your docking station only supports 2K HDMI, the image will be blurry. Once, I switch to 4K HDMI port on the docking station, the blurry image is gone. Please make sure the HDMI cable is also 4K, too. The one come with the monitor is good. After that, the image is perfect but it flicks (screen black out 2s, come back, and disappear agin) every few seconds, especially when I use Web browser. This basically make it useless. I google the problem, updated my graphic card driver, and it is still the same. I suspected upstream speed of my docking station is too slow. I search internet and it shows 5Gbps is enough for 2.5K. When I connect with my laptop Thunderbold 4 port (40 Gbps), the flicking is gone. It only happens when I connect with my laptop’s USB-C 3.2/DisplayPort/PD (10 Gbps/100W) combo port. At this point, I am pretty sure it is caused by the docking station 5Gbps upstream speed. Therefore, I bought another docking station that support USB-C upstream 10Gbps/100W with 2x HDMI 4K. All problems are gone when it connects with the new docking station. By the way, the USB-C cable come with the monitor only support 5Gbps/100W so that I have to use my own USB-C cable. To sum up, it needs USB-C 3.2 DisplayPort/PD combo port (10 Gbps/100W) connection including the USB-C cable and a 4K HDMI port and cable. Overall, this is a good monitor.
Complete Buying Guide for Best Curved Monitor For Working From Home
Essential Factors We Consider
When selecting the best curved monitor for working from home, we look at several key elements that directly impact your daily experience. Firstly, screen size and curvature are paramount. A larger screen with a more pronounced curve (like 1800R or 1500R) can increase immersion and reduce the need for head movement, making it easier on your neck. Secondly, resolution and refresh rate are crucial for clarity and smoothness; for work, 1440p or 4K offers better detail, and a refresh rate of 75Hz or higher ensures smooth scrolling and responsive work. Connectivity is another vital aspect, with USB-C ports being highly desirable for simplified docking and single-cable solutions. Finally, ergonomic adjustments like tilt, swivel, and height adjustability are essential for maintaining good posture and comfort throughout the workday. You might also consider features like blue light filters and flicker-free technology for eye comfort, and whether the monitor includes built-in speakers or a webcam, although dedicated accessories often provide better quality. We also think about how a monitor might fit into your existing setup, such as considering the need for a monitor shelf for home office or a suitable stand, like a monitor stand for curved display.
Budget Planning
Curved monitors for home office use can range significantly in price. Entry-level models often start around $150-$250 and typically offer Full HD resolution and standard refresh rates (60-75Hz). Mid-range options, usually between $250-$500, will provide QHD resolution, higher refresh rates (100-144Hz), and better build quality or more advanced features like USB-C connectivity. Premium models, exceeding $500, often boast 4K resolution, higher refresh rates (144Hz+), exceptional color accuracy, and advanced smart features. For most work-from-home professionals, a monitor in the $250-$500 range offers the best balance of performance, features, and value. Consider what features are most important to you – if gaming is also a priority, higher refresh rates become more critical. If it’s purely for productivity, resolution and screen real estate might take precedence. Don’t forget to factor in the cost of accessories like a monitor arm or monitor light bar for work from home if needed.
Final Thoughts
Choosing the right curved monitor for your work-from-home setup is a significant investment in your productivity and well-being. By considering factors like screen size, curvature, resolution, refresh rate, and connectivity, you can find a monitor that perfectly suits your needs. The models we’ve reviewed offer excellent options across different price points, ensuring there’s a great curved monitor out there for everyone. Whether you prioritize immersion, multitasking capabilities, or simply a more comfortable viewing experience, a curved monitor can transform your home office. If you’re looking to optimize your desk space, a single monitor riser for curved monitors could be a helpful addition.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is the ideal curvature for a curved monitor for work?
A: For home office use, an 1800R or 1500R curvature is generally considered ideal. This provides an immersive experience without being too extreme, reducing eye strain and making it easier to view the entire screen at a glance. Some users might prefer a more aggressive curve like 1000R, especially with larger ultrawide monitors.
Q: Should I prioritize resolution or refresh rate for work?
A: For work, resolution is typically more important than a very high refresh rate. A higher resolution (like QHD or 4K) allows for more screen real estate, enabling you to view more content at once and reducing the need for constant scrolling or window switching. While a higher refresh rate (75Hz+) is beneficial for smoother visuals, it’s less critical for typical office tasks compared to gaming. However, a good balance of both is always preferred.
Q: Are curved monitors good for reducing eye strain?
A: Yes, curved monitors can help reduce eye strain. The curvature of the screen helps to mimic the natural curve of the human eye, meaning that all parts of the screen are roughly equidistant from your eyes. This can lead to a more comfortable viewing experience, especially during long work sessions.
Q: What is the difference between an 1800R and 1500R curve?
A: The ‘R’ in 1800R or 1500R refers to the radius of the curve in millimeters. A lower number (e.g., 1500R) indicates a tighter, more pronounced curve than a higher number (e.g., 1800R). A 1500R curve will feel more immersive and wrap around your field of vision more aggressively than an 1800R curve.
Q: Can I use a curved gaming monitor for work?
A: Absolutely! Many curved gaming monitors offer high refresh rates, excellent color reproduction, and fast response times, which can also translate into a fantastic work experience. Features like FreeSync or G-Sync that are common on gaming monitors can provide smoother visuals even when scrolling through documents or using design software. However, ensure the resolution and other work-specific features meet your needs. For instance, a curved 27-inch monitor for gaming can be an excellent dual-purpose device.
Investing in a high-quality curved monitor can truly elevate your work-from-home experience, boosting both productivity and comfort. We hope this guide has helped you find the perfect fit for your needs. Explore these options and get ready to transform your workspace!
